Okay I have to talk about this show for a bit. XD
This is a medical (?) show based off of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I have such an intense interest in the story and characters that I will watch ANY adaptation of the story, regardless of shittiness. I have also made a pledge to myself to do my best NOT to judge a film or television show off its marketing, which has been shown to be extremely misleading. So I am still going to try and watch this show with a relatively open mind, despite the fact that (deep breath):
THIS POSTER MAKES NO SENSE. Can anyone figure it out for me? Why is Hyde’s face reflected in his HANDS? Are there no mirrors in this show at all? And why is he holding his hands like that at all? Are there people out there who go “shush!” by holding both hands to the side of their head like that? Because I don’t do that. Seriously someone figure out this poster for me.
Ahem. As I said, trying to keep an open mind. It is actually this preview that is really bothering me.
… because it flagrantly rips off Stephen Moffat’s BBC series “Jekyll” twice in, like, half a minute.
1) Jekyll’s pupils get visibly larger and his eyes darken when he turns into Hyde. Only in this version his pupils just….. engulf his entire eye, which just looks weird and breaks biology. :|
2) Hyde writes childish, taunting messages to Jekyll by scribbling on his arms in marker.
Actually TBH I am not sure I recall whether that second one exactly happened in “Jekyll”? So I could be off. XD But I am just getting astounding “train wreck” vibes from this show and I am really curious if it’s as bad as it seems to be. The Jekyll and Hyde story is just so poorly adapted most of the time—I fear it may tend to attract people who think Mr. Hyde sounds “so badass!!!!!!!!!” and they end up making him completely cheesy and somehow just so … fake feeling? All I really ask is that it be entertaining, which unfortunately not all adaptations manage to do.

  2. coffeedaydreams said: I think it’s meant to represent the way a doctor holds their hands prior to washing up for surgery (he’s in the right clothes for it anyway). The reflection could be there to hint that his evil side comes out then also? My best guess ><
  3. egoisty said: I’m just distracted by the fact that I keep thinking that’s Jim Carrey every time I drive past a billboard. :P
  4. azureverie said: I audibly groaned when the commercial came on. It looks terrible. I have seen the first episode of Moffat’s Jekyll and in the previews of Do No Harm I could tell it appeared to be a blatant rip off. And personally, I wasn’t a fan of Moffat’s Jekyll.
  5. cubewatermelon said: I think it’s supposed to be that pose doctors do when prepping for surgery sometimes. The effect is incredibly goofy, regardless.
  6. transjudas said: I’m assuming that the hands are supposed to be giving a “speak no evil” vibe, since they sort of cover the guy’s mouth. I haven’t seen any of the show yet.
