BAHAHAH I FINISHED THIS DUMB THING

So for a while now I wanted to storyboard a version of the Jekyll and Hyde song “Confrontation” with my versions of Jekyll and Hyde. This is silly because:

—my designs of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde were not designed to match their incarnations in the Jekyll and Hyde musical and it totally shows

—my Hyde is SO TINY and hearing Anthony Warlow’s voice come out of him is surreal

—the pacing of this song is SO SLOW that it is really odd to time into an animatic

—I spent a lot of time on this before realizing any of these rather obvious things

So feckin’ ART BLOCKED right now *self-rage*
Trying to raise self confidence by practicing weight and strong posing drawing stupid roleplay stuff. I’m pretty pleased with the drunk!Jekyll? (This is what happens when he is forced to be completely honest—he CANNOT confess is true feelings to someone without getting completely plastered beforehand.)
I’m really afraid I may be losing the ability to draw on a tablet D: Look at those sloppy lines and unconfident scratches. Dammit work-provided Cintiq!

Ugh I can’t wake up at all this morning have a cat

Ahh more pose work. This one is all off model and weird looking. XD But with a point!
I was doodling up some storyboard drawings based on the Confrontation song from Jekyll and Hyde, and it led me to thinking about how I would want Hyde’s behavior to reflect his growth as a character throughout his story. If he’s evolved into this taunting, confident villain by Confrontation (the climax in the musical, but about 2/3 of the way through my story) then how does he start out? I imagine that the very first time Hyde comes into conflict with Jekyll, he’s much more openly threatening and animalistic. He’s acting on instinct and hasn’t thought through how to confront Jekyll, who is a lot more calculating and thoughtful. Blah blah blah story stuff

Lol more pose test assignments!

I don’t know if anyone knows these characters since I keep … not drawing anything but Jekyll and Hyde, but these are Beatrice Bee and lil’ Grendel. :D It … was REALLY windy in Burbank yesterday.

Lesbi’ns!

I don’t think I’ve posted these characters before? These are Dina (the tall, overbearing one) and Inara (the tiny, long-suffering one). They have been dating for a zillion years. I … normally really don’t like drawing/writing couples but their intense height difference makes everything just slightly strange looking so I can handle that. XD

And now I am going to go cry in a corner because I spent hours on these (eh, sort of, a lot of time was spent screwing up) and I’m never gonna be able to draw fast enough to be a story artist weh

Commission sketch for umasalazar! She asked to show her two characters fighting but I ended up going with the … aftermath of the fight? XD IDK maybe it will be okay.

My Christmas present to myself is drawing this super self-indulgent drawing of my versions of the Jekyll and Hyde characters commenting on the musical Jekyll and Hyde. Except for Frankenstein, who … got a much more fun adaptation.

So Jekyll and Hyde has some derpy lyrics and I always imagine my characters making sassy commentary:

How do you tell evil from good?

Jekyll: Well, depending on the context—

Evil does well, good—not so good!

Jekyll: Well, that is one interpretation, isn’t it?

Hyde: DID YOU JUST RHYME ‘GOOD’ WITH ‘GOOD’?

Jekyll: It would appear that my character is not to be tempted by intellectual stimulation in this scene, hmm?

Hyde: AND IT’S WELL. GOOD DOES NOT DO SO WELL.

Jekyll: True, but … I believe that could be excused as a colloquialism.

Hyde: *sputters* Well maybe but— THAT’S JUST BAD SONG WRITING. YOU WROTE A BAD SONG, PETEY.

I also have a huge rant about the Jekyll and Hyde story structure here.

Uggggggggh me right now ><
Usually when I am sick I imagine how my characters would act if they were in the same situation. So far my Jekyll and Hyde story is the only one where the scene really fits—Hyde, having been deprived of a good night out for some time, storms into the streets despite that a torrential rainstorm is brewing outside. This lands Jekyll (and later, Hyde) with a terrible flu the next day, but he is far too busy to take time off to treat himself.
